Graffiti 6 - Annie You Save Me

Charming and exciting

Woo Hoo Grafitti6 are back and the sun is out, what more could you ask for? This time the sensible people at Radio One have done the decent thing and playlisted the single. Hoorah! This means that my comments in my last review about the band becoming popular now has a chance of happening – seeing as we all know that Radio One pretty much hold the key to a band’s success these days, at least that’s how it seems to us sometimes!

So what do we have here then? Well Annie You Save Me is a wistful love song, full of the Grafitti6 soul that singer Jamie Scott brings with his vocals. They just manage to pull of something so charming and exciting with everything I’ve heard so far. There really isn’t anything like this around right now, not saying similar things haven’t been done before because they have, but this is strikingly different in today’s commercial pop market. It simply screams Summertime, I don’t even know how to explain how songs have a seasonal feeling to them but they just do.

I love the combination of sounds on this track the strings, the percussion and of course the vocals. The lyrics are so great too, especially in the chorus “When I’m finding it hard to breathe you lift the weight inside of me”. Just lovely isn’t it. I can’t wait to start hearing this all over the place and I know it will be because it’s just fantastic. I can’t sing high enough praise for Graffiti 6 they just make me smile so much and anything that makes me do that is good in my book!
