Graffiti 6 - Stone In My Heart EP
Setting the bar high!
Stone In My Heart is a track that literally screams “party”. It’s got soul, it’s got fun, it’s got beats, it’s got rhythm and most of all it’s got something different to it. Listening to the lyrics it becomes clear the song is about heartbreak but how to overcome it; “With a stone in my heart I stood up and love was gone” is very sad, but followed with “makes me stronger, makes me wiser” brings a sense of getting up and getting on. Despite the lyrics being pretty sad in places, the track is uplifting and has a pretty happy vibe to it.
As an EP Graffiti 6 have set the bar very high indeed for any future material. It’s polished, it is almost perfect, there’s not a bad song on here. There are many different influences that race through the EP; some soul, funk, rock and folk. Not one track that you can’t dance too or doesn’t make you feel good.
If anyone was to have a small gathering you’d have to put on Graffiti 6 to get people up onto the dance floor. It’s not pretentious, there’s nothing here that can be taken as overly serious. It’s all good fun and Foxes In The headlights with its almost Middle Eastern feel is funky and delightful. It’s the song from the EP to play toward the end of the party for a bit of a sway and boogie wine glass in one hand waving slightly merrily in the air.
All in all, you just have to buy this and listen for yourself. Spring is here and this is going to be perfect for those breezy sunny days with it’s uplifting feel and its clever mish mash of music.
